Things to do near Miami International Airport?
I am flying to MIA at 6 pm one night. The next morning, I'm on a flight to Costa Rica. What 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. I can do in Miami? I will not join my group until the next morning, so I want to be safe as a single female. NO BARS / CLUBS. "I can take a walk around a stage? Any fun (and safe) places to shop? Any strips with good restaurants? I'm waiting for something relatively near my hotel near MIA.
Do not go outside the airport area only as this is mainly warehouses and deserted at night. I suggest taking a taxi to Coral Gables and make you leave the corner of Ponce de Leon Boulevard and Miracle Mile (Starbucks is here). From there you can walk to the boutiques, shops and restaurants. A good place to eating is Ortanique on the Mile that serves good food Caribbean. Or, Miss Saigon Bistro, Maroosh, City Cellar, Graziano, Randazzo, etc (some have websites) also can find a lot of sushi, steak, Italian, Vietnamese, wine bars, etc. within 4 blocks north or south and Le Jeune Rd Douglas Rd (west and east). There is a library book books independently and in a Spanish bldg beautiful and has a nice little cafe. We also have speakers, events and live music. The bookstore is expensive, but worth a visit if you enjoy reading. The first Friday of every month is Gallery Night and you can visit the art galleries on foot or by car (free). It is a good way to spend an afternoon. Visit the following sites for a list of shops, restaurants and events. For shopping amazing but expensive that you can take a taxi to Merrick Park (Nordstrom, Bebe, Roberto Cavalli, Tiffany, Burberry, Coach, Gucci, Lacoste, etc) also have restaurants. It's just a high-end shopping mall so for Me downtown Coral Gables area is a better choice for things to do.
