Nikon D60 remote – operation/options?

I see that the ML-3 remote from nikon is the only option to remotely operate my D60.

My questions are:
- Is this the only (good) option? (i dont want to use cheap imitation brands)

- Can i operate this remote from behind the camera? I only see an infrared receiver on the front of the cam

The camera only has the IR sensor on the front of the camera. You can use it from behind the camera if you can bounce the IR beam off of something in front of the camera. The surface you bounce the IR beam off of needs to be fairly close by, perhaps 5 to 10 feet. I use the remote behind the camera when I do product photography.

The ML-3 is a perfectly good remote. For the price, why buy an imitation unit.

Another option is using Nikon’s Camera Control Pro program. It will allow tethered remote to your computer. Kind of expensive for what it does.
