most of the Harley clones are going under,companies like Titan are out of business would you buy one?
Way back in 1996 I was thumbing through a hog hollow catalog[now called fog hollow] and realised I could build a complete aftermarket panhead without a single H.D. part.Soon after that the Illusion Motorcycle company came out,followed by many Big inch S and S motor powered big buck bikes. Not to many of these bikes around now though due to the economy and so called R.U.B..s going away. Im seeing lots of 45,000 dollar bikes selling for 16,000 dollars now and less! Anybody out there buying them?
I’m personally not into choppers or semi-choppers, but considering I’ve extensively modified every touring bike I’ve owned (and still own) to suit my needs or correct factory weaknesses, buying a custom bike wouldn’t be that big of a deal for me.
With something like an S&S engine, getting engine parts won’t be a problem, there will be most likely a Mikuni or Kehin carb, Brembo, Nissin or some other name brand brake calipers and so on, so maintaining a bike from a defunct builder shouldn’t be a problem. Now bashing in the tank or pipes and looking for a cosmetic replacement is a different story.
